Math equations in Word and PDF documents from Rational Publishing Engine

With Rational Publishing Engine (RPE) 2.1.1, we can render mathematical equations in Word and PDF documents. RPE expects input to be MathML format to be able it to render them. See examples of mathematical equations in MathML format at MathJax. Microsoft Word DOCX format has built-in support for math equations (through MathML) with an equations editor to create and modify equations.

We can input MathML input manually within the RPE template to render them as equations. However, RPE should be capable of rendering these equations through dynamic XHTML data. Once tools like Rational DOORS Next Generation (DNG) and Rational Quality Manager start exporting Math equations as MathML through Reportable REST API, RPE will render them into Word and/or PDF documents.

This video demonstrates rendering Math Equations using RPE 2.1.1

Firefox renders MathML as equations by default. Hence, RPE-generated HTML document will render equations correctly in Firefox browsers.
