For IBM Engineering Rhapsody Model Manager (RMM) v7.1, we organized our improvements in three categories:
1. Practitioner productivity
Digital Thread

Rhapsody Model Manager web-UI link menu and Links section displaying a mix of new AM-AM links and requirement links
Model-to-model linking using OSLC Architecture Management, with models in different RMM project areas, between different servers (including the new cloud-native, web-based Rhapsody System Engineering), and between RMM and other domains that represent their data as OSLC-AM resources (for example PLM bills of materials). At the same time we implemented drag-and-drop and copy/paste as link to simplify the process of linking between models hosted in RMM.
AM-AM traceability reports where RMM owns the links can be generated using JRS, PUB, or Rhapsody Model Manager’s reportable REST APIs.
Model explorer sidebar improvements

Sidebar explorer with informative icons
Rhapsody Model Manager now displays informative icons for model elements based on their type, improving consistency with the Rhapsody® client and making it easier to find what you are looking. Updated icons can be seen in various locations, including:
– Explorer view
– Model element properties page
– Breadcrumbs
– OSLC link labels and compact rendering
– Quick search results
Other sidebar explorer improvements
In the sidebar explorer, links, diagrams, tables, and matrices now have their own tabs, making it easier to access the information when needed and reducing overall page clutter by minimizing scrolling.

Sidebar explorer with diagram view
The full text search in the upper right of the UI now searches the sidebar explorer too.
Rhapsody DiffMerge now a preconfigured option in the 7.1 Engineering Workflow Management (EWM) Eclipse client

2. Governance
A new role-based permission for Link Validity Status allows tool admins to use roles to ensure that only authorized people can change whether a link is reported to be valid, suspect, or invalid.
3. Improvements in Precision, Configuration, and Component Visibility
We’ve introduced several user-friendly enhancements, including improved error and guidance messages, as well as greater control over the visibility and management of components, offering a clearer and more intuitive user experience. See the RMM 7.1 new and noteworthy document for details.
Combined with the significant Rhapsody user experience improvements in Rhapsody 10.0 and 10.0.1, 2024 has been a good year for teams using Rhapsody.
