Configuring the SAFe® Methodology in CLM Tooling – Where do I start?

Support for the Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe) methodology in IBM’s Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) solution was delivered in CLM 6.0.1 for SAFe 3.0 and beta support for SAFe 4.0 is now available for CLM 6.0.1 and later.

But, what if you aren’t on the correct version of CLM to take advantage of the out-of-the-box support? What if you already have existing project areas based on earlier methodologies? Maybe you’re using the SAFe 3.0 support but want to move to SAFe 4.0. I am pleased to announce a new web site to get you started.

The Configuring the SAFe® Methodology in CLM web site is now available to guide you through the activities required to configure a SAFe-based tooling environment. Depending upon your starting CLM version and your desired SAFe version, along with considerations for existing or new project areas, the flow diagram helps you choose the appropriate documents and templates to get moving in the right direction.

Once you have the tooling environment set up, you can find links to additional guidance for customizing your SAFe environment across all levels (Portfolio, Value Stream, Program, Team). Included in this guidance are instructions to import SAFe reports and create awesome dashboards to help your organization orchestrate delivery of products and applications.

Finally, you can keep track of updates we make to the tooling templates by exploring the delta changes so that you can apply the same changes going forward.

As always, we are here to help and appreciate all feedback. Contact us at safeinfo@bg.vnet.ibm.com.
