Is there a way to programmatically duplicate a module in RRC v 4.0.7?

I would like to know if there is a scripted method which would allow me to create a duplicate of a module.

for some reason, when trying to do this via the UI the process just fails, and we see a "server took too long to respond..." type of error. In some circumstances we've encountered hung threads in the SystemOut.log and eventually the system came to a grinding halt (I don't know for certain if the duplicate module process was the root cause or if it coincided, but it has occurred more than once when trying to complete the duplicate module).

the module in question contains over 6000+ artifacts so it is not feasible to manually re-create it.

my hope is there is some method/script that would be able to carry out this process on the server.

any advice welcomed.

We're running CLM 4.0.7 (RM, RTC, JTS)
