Hi all,

We are having some issues with upgrading Rational Reporting for Development Intelligence 1.0.2 to 2.0.4.

Our environment comprises of the following.

  1. Jazz CLM 3.0 which is located on server 1.
  2. RRDI is located on server 2.
  3. SQL Server 2008 R2 is located on server 3.

As part of upgrading the Jazz CLM from 3.0 to 4.0, we are following the Jazz upgrade instructions, which require us to install and configure RRDI from 1.0.2 to 2.0. We haven't upgraded Jazz CLM from 3.0 to 4.0 yet, as the instructions advise us to complete the install/config of RRDI from 1.0.2 to 2.0.4 before the CLM 3.0 - 4.0 upgrade.

We have not previously used IBM WebSphere Application Server, but during the RRDI upgrade process, we found out that we had to run IBM WebSphere Application Server to support the new version of RRDI. This is the first time that we've use WAS in conjunction with Jazz RRDI/CLM.

did you backup your RRDI 1.X settings as described in the following document:

Also, the current recommendation for the upgrade sequence is to upgrade CLM first and then RRDI.

Thanks for your help. The doco I had advised to do RRDI first, but you are right, the updated doc suggests otherwise.

Currently trying to perform the Jazz CLM upgrade, but encountering other issues. Will post another thread.

I have come across this issue atleast 15 times now...! while upgrading from RRDI from 1.0.1 to 2.0.3.

I see this error as a bug in upgrade process, it fails to update cognos configuration for RRDI 2.0.3. (in my case I change the port & DNS too.)

I bypass this error by manually editing/updating the cognos configuration. (During deployment step)

I assume you are doing this upgrade on Linux.

To do so.. (after you click on deploy)

If you have GUI launch cogconfig directly, else export display from linux.

<RRDI_204_installtion_dir>/cognos/bin/cogconfig.sh         - If RRDI is installed as 32-bit.

<RRDI_204_installtion_dir>/cognos/bin/cogconfig.sh         - If RRDI is installed as 64-bit.

Make sure port & DB information is updated.

Save it & exit.

Note: This change should be done before deploy step completes.

I will post a detailed procedure for CLM & RRDI upgrade with screenshots shortly.

Then you should be able to launch "cogconfigw.exe" from bin64 or bin. (depending on your RRDI installation type)
