IBM Internet of Things Continuous Engineering Solution installation requirements under construction

Before you start the installation, verify that your environment meets the hardware and software requirements, and ensure that your user ID meets the specified requirements.

Hardware and software requirements

User ID requirements

  • Your user ID must not contain double-byte characters.

  • For Windows: The user privileges required for installing depend on the version of Windows running on your computer. For some supported Windows versions, you must have a user ID that belongs to the Administrators group.
    For Windows, you must log in to the Administrator account (or run as Administrator; right-click the program file or shortcut, and select Run as Administrator) to perform these tasks:
    • Install or update IBM Installation Manager.
    • Install or update a product offering.
    • Install an Authorized-User license key for your product by using IBM Installation Manager .
      Important: Users who are not the Administrator can work with a product on Windows Vista, if you meet the following requirements:
      • Do not install the product into a package group (installation location) in the Program Files directory (C:\Program Files\). Do not select a shared resources directory in the Program Files directory.
      • If you are extending an existing Eclipse installation, do not install Eclipse in the Program Files directory (C:\Program Files\).

  • For Linux: You must be able to log in as root.
