System requirements for the Internet of Things (IoT) Continuous Engineering Solution

Software Products Compatibility Reports To generate a detailed up-to-date list of system requirements for each product in the solution, search for your product on the Software Products Comparability Reports page.

Support Portal Plan & Install For an extensive list of articles and resources on the installation of each product in the solution, go to the IBM® Support Portal Plan and Install tab, and click Find a product.

User ID requirements

  • Your user ID must not contain double-byte characters.

  • For Windows: The user privileges required for installing depend on the version of Windows running on your computer. For some supported Windows versions, you must have a user ID that belongs to the Administrators group.
    For Windows, you must log in to the Administrator account (or run as Administrator; right-click the program file or shortcut and select Run as Administrator) to perform these tasks:
    • Install or update IBM Installation Manager.
    • Install or update a product offering.
    • Install an Authorized-User license key for your product by using IBM Installation Manager .
      Important: Users who are not the Administrator can work with a product on Windows Vista, if you meet the following requirements:
      • Do not install the product into a package group (installation location) in the Program Files directory (C:\Program Files\). Do not select a shared resources directory in the Program Files directory.
      • If you are extending an existing Eclipse installation, do not install Eclipse in the Program Files directory (C:\Program Files\).

  • For Linux: You must be able to log in as root.
