And specifically this troubleshooting section:
CRRRW8010E A server error prevented the generation of the content
The above error message is a result of a failure in the Rational Requirements Composer converter application - so what is the "converter application"?
RM has two separate and distinct methods for handling graphical artifacts and documents such as Business Process Diagram, Use Case Diagram, Part, Sketch, Storyboard and Screenflow. The converter application is used to generate a visual rendering of the document for view-only mode. In addition, there is a RM Browser Add-on plugin that must be downloaded and installed in the client browser in order to be able to edit such documents. The converter runs exclusively on the server and has specific graphical dependencies that must be met on the server. The RM Browser Add-on plugin, while downloaded from the server the first time you attempt to edit a graphical document, runs exclusively on the client.
This leads to two important points:
-
If you get error CRRRW8010E, the problem is server-side. The Browser Add-on plugin has no bearing on the failure.
- Even if the converter is unable to render the graphical document, it is still possible to edit the document if you installed the plugin. Even though the content could not be generated, the Edit button will still appear and you will see your content in the editor. However once you save, exit the editor and return to view mode, the converter will again fail to generate the content and thus you will not see the work you just saved (but it is still there - simply re-edit and see).
