How to link requests related to an asset using resources without having to "modify" it ?

The use case is following : I would like asset consumers to link related requests (managed in RTC) to this asset (delivery request, change request ..) . I tried a resource attribute, naîvely thinking that adding a new ressource link was possible without having to "modify" the asset. (we are in a DML, I do not want asset consumers to be allowed to do that).
So, what is the recommended procedure ?

You can also add resource links to forum posts. You could create a forum on the asset where users could go to link their related requests.
