Rational Buildforge installation

 Hi

I want to setup RBF 7.1.3 in RHEL5.5 using DB2 and WAS.
Can some guide how to do that or to a proper documentation.
The information available in infocenter is not clear on WAS part.

Having Rational Build Forge use WebSphere Application Server (WAS) instead of the built-in Apache Tomcat is actually pretty straightforward.

In the IBM Installation Manager installer for Rational Build Forge, you are going to want to answer "yes" to the question about supplying your own application server.

This is covered the the following article in the Rational Build Forge InfoCenter: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/bldforge/v7r1m3/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.rational.buildforge.doc%2Ftopics%2Finstall_mc_installer_steps.html

Next, you are going to follow the steps in the following article in the Rational Build Forge InfoCenter for installing the applications into WebSphere Application Server. Here is a link to the article: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/bldforge/v7r1m3/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.rational.buildforge.doc%2Ftopics%2Fconfig_integrations_websphere_was.html

Please make sure that the Rational Build Forge applications are started in WebSphere Application Server before starting Rational Build Forge so that the intra-component communication can occur successfully.

Hi David,

Thanks for your reply.

I want to install this for an evaluation purpose in a standalone mode. Is webserver mandatory for this setup.

If yes, Can i use the default Webserver created with the WAS profile?

-Prasad

Prasad,

The Web Server is mandatory and needs to be either Apache Web Server or IBM HTTP Server as there is a portion of the Web-based user interface in PHP.

You can use the WAS default profile for the application server portion of the product but will still need a separate WebServer.

David, Thanks for your Support. :)
