Rational Functional Test Adapter not working when connecting with the domain name

Bala Jegadeesan (1356) | asked Aug 21 '12, 3:24 a.m.
We've been facing a issue when connecting RQM 3.0.1.1 with the RFT 8.x. The issue is that when we try to connect with domain name in RFT for example jazz.ibm.com , it is not connecting with RQM, whereas when we try with the ip address of jazz.ibm.com then it is connecting. Also, the connection is lasting only for few seconds and then going away.

Please help us in identifying the issue.

Are there any error messages in the server log or the adapter log?  Also make sure that the version of RFT is at least 8.2 for use with RQM 3.0.1.

Hi Robert,

We are using RFT 8.2 and RQM 3.0.1.1. There are no error messages in the adapter log as it is disappearing whenever we tried to connect to RQM with the domain name in the public URI. But, when we tried with the IP address of RQM server in the public URI, it connects for 3 secs and then disconnects by itself.

Robert: Any suggestion for this issue pls.

Without any logt I'm not sure what the issue might be. I do know that you need to connect using the public URI. Using the IP might seem to work but it will cause problems. One thought is to make sure that you are using the project alias, not the project name. If that isn't the problem I would suggest calling IBM Support.

Thanks Robert. Yes we are making use project alias name but still it didn't helkp to resolve the issue.

Hi Bala,
Make sure you are using the public URI provided for the given RQM server, If it is not same as public URI, adapter might not connect.

Pramod: Yes we are using the public URI of RQM server only. If the public URI is not correct then it would not have connected for 3 secs when we tried with the IP address.

Pramod: Do you have any suggestion for this issue pls.
