How to create a "References Term" link to an exist

If I select a term from within a text artifact and take the action to create a term, after the term is created, I get a link of type "References Term" from the text artifact to the new term.

However, if I try to link the text from within the artifact to an existing term, I don't get the link created. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this?

Thank you

Are you creating the term using the find term icon on the text editor menu? That's the best way to create these links (and note that the document must be in edit mode).

You can see examples near the bottom of this article:

Yes, Daniel. I have no problems having the links created while creating the term. In fact, I just create the term from inside the text requirement and the link is created automatically, I don't even know what I do to have the link created. My problem is when I already have the term created and I just want to link a piece of text inside a text requirement to that existing term. In this situation, I link the piece of text to the existing term, the link seems to be created, but the actual "References Term" link in the Links section is not created. That's what I want to figure out how to do.

Thanks

I just tried this on our self-host, which is now running RRC 4.0 RC4.

I did the following:
* opened a doc that includes term references and noted which ones exist
* put doc in edit mode
* highlighted text for which I know a term exists (and for which the document already has one term link in it -- and it's visible in the sidebar)
* clicked the find term icon in the editor toolbar
* inserted a link to the term in the doc
* saved the doc
* checked the sidebar -- it now has two references to the term.

Are you getting different behavior? If so, I wonder if it's a change of behavior between V3.0.0.x and recent 4.0 milestones. If so, you might want to open a support ticket to confirm this and to ask what could be done in the V3 product.

HI Daniel,

How do you get from "clicked the find term icon in the editor toolbar" to "inserted a link to the term in the doc"?
The info-box showing the found term, doesn't show any link capabilities and if you simply use 'Add Link (Ctrl+L)'-button in the editor, it creates a link, but non of type 'References Term'.
We don't want to end up with multiple similar terms, because creating Terms is the only functionality available to link to a term... (Which seems kinda pointless if the similar term already exists).
We're using DOORS Next Generation, version 4.0.2 on Windows (64-bits).

I'll open a support ticket.

Thanks, Daniel
