Issue when re-installing Insight on a RHEL machine

Amir Ghaemian (4811315) | asked Dec 15 '11, 9:31 a.m.
Hi

I'm in middle of doing the enterprise scenario installation of Insight 1.1. I installed the Report server with a new auto installation of WAS from the Installation manager. the first time the installation was successful.

At this point we decided that we where going to install Report server and DW server on the same machine and removed everything to start over. We removed following:

So we deleted the
RationalInsight install directory, the InstallationManager directory, and the IMShared directory.

We also delete /var/ibm and /etc/.ibm
Since it is a root install, we also delete /root/waslogs and /root/IBM
Now we start a fresh and clean version of Installation Manager (so we
hope).

But now all subsequent installation attempts fail after 5 minutes with
the
following error message:

Installation failed.
Error during "install" phase:
CRIMA1076E: Error executing
"/opt/hub/RationalInsight/AppServer/bin/wasservice.sh" operation
(status=1).
See agent output log for more
information: /var/ibm/InstallationManager/logs/native/20111214_1738a.log

In the /var/ibm/InstallationManager/logs/native directory we find 3 such
log files, the content of all three is
- java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException
- WAS Server port for Rational Reporting profile = 9080
- INSTCONFSUCCESS: Success: Profile RationalReport now exists. Please
consult /opt/hub/RationalInsight/AppServer/profiles/RationalReport/logs/
AboutThisProfile.txt for more information about this profile.

Now comes the weird part.
The script that Installation Manger tries to
execute, /opt/hub/RationalInsight/AppServer/bin/wasservice.sh, does not
exist at the time the error message is thrown.
In fact, the entire "AppServer" directory is gone.

Have anybody stumbled upon this issue? Anyone that knows anyway to increase the logging level of Installation Manager to maybe get some more valuable logs?

Regards
Amir

Assuming you are remove the folder manually (you should uninstall Insight by IM), looks like your WAS is not un-installed correctly, please follow the instruction below to remove it manually then start a new installation.
