Install issues with DataServices 1.0.1 on Linux

Jackie Albert (1.6k14947) | asked Nov 08 '10, 1:25 p.m.
I'm trying to set up Insight 1.0.1 on Linux. I've gotten the Insight piece up and running, and installed in /opt/ibm/RationalInsight. Next, I was going to install DataServices. From past releases, I know that Insight and DataServices cannot share a WAS instance on Linux, due to conflicting ODBC drivers, so I am trying to install separately in /opt/ibm/DataServices.

In the install, I choose a different port since the default of 9080 is already used by Insight, but the install fails. I get an error saying:

Error executing "/opt/ibm/DataServices/install/was/WAS/install" operation (status=1).
See agent output log for more information: /var/ibm/InstallationManager/logs/native/20101108_1012.log

However, when I try to check this log file, the file does not exist. Can anyone provide a workaround for this issue?

To follow up with this, I noticed that I had some coredumps for my Insight server that corresponded with the timeframe when I attempted to install DataServices. So, I stopped Insight, and retried my DataServices install using port 9060, and it appears to have worked this time.

This concerns me though - if I'm using a separate install path and separate WAS installation, why would Insight need to be stopped in order to install DataServices?
