RRDI & BIRT roadmap

Matthew Hardin (50814) | asked Aug 25 '11, 4:00 p.m.
With 3.0.1 I see I can still use BIRT reports. Will that functionality be available going forward or will it be stripped out eventually? i.e. whats the roadmap for reporting in regards to its use of BIRT and/or RRDI?

And what is the roadmap for users with a lot of customized BIRT reports in previous versions as things move forward?

Thanks,
Matthew

I'll confirm what Mike has said. The support for out-of-the-box BIRT reports in RTC, and customer-authored BIRT reports in RTC, will remain in place. So customers who have invested in BIRT knowledge and expertise won't be left out. For RTC customers who are just starting with custom reporting, and for RQM and RRC customers who want custom reporting at all (since RQM and RRC do not support custom BIRT reports), our strategic answer is RRDI.

As far as I know, there are no plans to remove BIRT in the foreseeable future. We know that there are many people with customized BIRT reports. However, RRDI is our strategic direction for reporting and where we are devoting our energy.
