Links between DM and RRC or RTC

Jose Miguel Ordax Cassa (2.4k4126100) | asked Jun 29 '11, 11:27 a.m.
Hi, I have DM 3.0 installed in a JTS and CALM 2011 installed in another
JTS. I added friend relationship connections between all of them.

I am able to create links from DM to RRC, RTC and RQM. But, at those
servers a "callback" link is not created. I mean, i can flow from a
model to a Story or a Requirement, but from that Story or Requirement I
don't see a link to DM.

Is this working as designed in this first version? Or a "callback" link
should be created automatically and I am doing something wrong...

Thanks,

Chemi.

Hi Chemi

I am also interested in the links between RRC and DM. Will let you know what I find out if we don't get an answer here.

Currently backlinks are created for RTC but not for RRC or RQM.

A couple things to check if backlinks are not being created in RTC:

1. You created the friends links both ways.
2. You defined a link type in DM and selected to create a reverse link URI. Avoid using the "Architected By" link type. There is a defect right now and this doesn't create the back link (https://jazz.net/jazz04/web/projects/Design%20Management#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=20069)

The DM help page has some more details on these steps:

Thanks Don. So as I understand it - we can't (yet) use DM to link from RRC to model elements help in Design Manager, but we can link RTC work items to model elements in Design Manager.

Hummm.... I was able to do it Anthony. What it seems it is not possible
is to get automatically a backlink in the other side.

Yantzi, I will verify again the scenario with RTC because I think I was
able to do links from both sides: DM and RTC but the backlink never was
created. BTW, I didn't define any Link type. I was using the defaults,
which seems the same ones than RCC. Right?

Thanks,

Chemi.

within RDM, when I create an association to an RTC project, I see the following association types:

Change Requests
Implementation Requests
Requirements Change Requests

Within RTC, I also see the same if I create an association to RDM.

Do I need to create bi-directional associations between the Projects?

In Design Manager you need to create a new link type (on the project properties page) and specify that it should create the reverse link for RTC. This is only available with RTC in DM 3.0.

Just a reminder, don't use the "Architected By" back link type right now, there is a bug that prevents the back link from being created in RTC.

You can create links to requirements in RRC but it won't create the back link.

No, I *think* you only need to create the project association from DM to RTC. You should see the DM project under the RTC project's associations.
