SYED HUSSAIN (3718) | asked Aug 11 '14, 9:22 a.m.
While try to run Import definition in DM using:

File > Import Definition, I am constantly getting error: Permission to eprform the operation is denied.

Checked and given all the persmission in DM as well as VVC (Configuration management).

Anyone can share any experience?

I have tried both kind of DM projects Blank or Basic.

Hi,

Is your ultimate goal to import Rational Rhapsody models or Rational Software Architect Models?
What is the version of Design Manager you are currently using?
What is the full error message you are getting?
Are you able to perform other operations?
If all the permissions are allowing you to perform imports as shown below:

then make sure you have a valid license for Rational Rhapsody Design Manager - Design Manager  or Rational Software Architect - Designer for your user.

François

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

Below are the answers to your questions:

Is your ultimate goal to import Rational Rhapsody models or Rational Software Architect Models? - Rational Software Architect Models
What is the version of Design Manager you are currently using? v5 with CLM 5.0
What is the full error message you are getting?
Permission to perform the operations was denied.
Are you able to perform other operations? Yes rest RM works fine.

I set same permissions. Even tries given all permissions in RM and Configuration Management (VVC). For now its a trial version.

Hi,

How is the message appearing?
What do you see in the dm.log (located in <server_install_dir>/server/logs if you are using Tomcat and if you are using WebSphere Application under  <was_profile_dir>/logs).
With a user who does not have a valid license, I can see the same error "blinking" each time I press the save button on an import definition.
If I then go to dml.log, I get an entry like:
2014-08-12 10:13:54,158 [        http-bio-9443-exec-266] [] ERROR com.ibm.xtools.rmpx.common.exceptions.RmpxRuntimeException  -

  </rdf:Description>
</rdf:RDF>
Can you tell us which kind of license you activated and if none of the licenses applied to your user are expired?
Are you able to perform other DM actions in other project area actively managed with DM?

Regards,
François
