Support of other languages for spelling check?

Is it possible to select another language for spelling checks, eg by selecting a different dictionary?

If so, which languages are supported?

For 2.x, it's based on the languages you installed with the client. If you installed all the languages, the Text Editor preferences list the following available dictionaries:
