Feature Request: Graphical History/Branch View for Streams & Baselines in DOORS Next Global Configuration (like Git)

Hi all,

this is a long-standing community need: A graphical "history graph" or "branch view" for streams and baselines in DOORS Next Global Configuration Management (GCM) similar to what you know from Git or other modern version control tools.

Such a visualization should allow us to see at a glance how streams and baselines relate, including branching, merging, and timeline/progression, not just as a hierarchy tree but as a real flow/graph.

There have been similar requests in the past, for example in this forum post (from 2016!):

I have now submitted a new idea to the IBM Ideas Portal. If you are interested in this feature, please support and upvote it here (and feel free to reference it in your own tickets!):

It would really help to have this functionality for better transparency, error prevention, and communication - especially in larger projects with many parallel branches.

In our organization, we have a growing number of parallel streams and baselines due to complex product variants, change requests, and release management. Without a clear graphical visualization of the stream/baseline history and their relationships, it is difficult for project teams to quickly grasp the configuration state, identify merge points, and ensure correct reuse of requirements. Introducing a branch-graph-style view (similar to what is standard in Git or other version control systems) would significantly improve our ability to manage configurations, reduce miscommunication, and avoid costly mistakes.

Thanks for your support!

Best regards,
Daniel

The graphical view using option "Show History" of a GC Stream doesn't solve that problem?

Thanks for chiming in Adrian.

Daniel, this is a forum. If you have a defect, there is support you might want to use. If you have feature requests, go to https://ideas.ibm.com/ thanks.
