CSV Import gives wrong dates in Region 'French(France)' as the date format is not supported by RTC.

Shreya J (132) | asked Jan 22 '16, 12:47 a.m.
When I tried to import a CSV in French(France) regional setting, all dates for these work items were messed up. When I imported the same CSV in 'English (United States) region, the work items showed correct dates. Any solution to fix this issue?

Bonjour Shreya,

Unfortunately there is no specification for the CSV format apart from RFC 4180 (http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4180) which does not specify how dates should be formatted. The problem of date format also applies to exporting dates from RTC to CSV and importing them to Excel. See:

The only solution is to format the dates correctly before the import. If you are using Excel this is easy with the Format Cell function or using a macro. You should choose either the American format or the more universal ISO 8601 format :

i.e. yyyy-mm-dd

Enjoy, Simon
