 Hi all,

We are migrating to RTC 5.0.2 from Clear Case. we have 300+ VOBs (that contains project artifacts) currently in clear case that need to be transfer to RTC source control. All the VOBs mostly contains artifacts such as our vendors source code in compressed form and documents (like doc, xslx. pdf, ppt etc), so we will be using RTC Web Client for managing and sharing all these artifacts.

Note: We have around 30 team that will be using RTC for managing clear case projects and documents

Our approach of migration
1. First we will copy all VOBs containing files and folder for each project on RTC server.
2. We will create a separate project area for Clear Case.
3. We will select any 1 out of 3 strategies for RTC source control, we have in our mind:

Strategy #1: One stream per team, one project per component
Here we would have one stream per team. This stream would have multiple components, with each component having one project.
Strategy # 2: One stream with one component per team, multiple projects in the component
Strategy # 3: One stream with lots of components, one project per component
Q. For this strategy, How many components can we have in one stream?

Q. Which strategy is best suited in our case?

4. We will create 30 Team areas and add members in the team area.
5. We will create Streams and components as per selected strategy from point # 3.
6. We will will upload all 300+ project artifacts to the respective components one by one via RTC Web Client.
Q. As per my understanding, this step might take a lot of time in uploading. Is there any other quick way to share these project artifacts?
7. We will work on Access control on components to specific Team areas.

Kindly review our approach and let us know if we need to change any of the step above.

Thanks in advance.
