Migrating old RTC4 server to new RTC 5.0.2 server (Both are separate and in use)

 Dear All,

I have 2 instances of RTC running on 2 different servers in the same network. Details are as below:

Server 1) RTC4.0.1 OS: Windows: App Server: is websphere and Database: is DB2.

Server2) RTC5.0.2 OS: Windows App Server is websphere Database is MSSQL

Both servers are in use and have artifacts.

Now I want to migrate all artifacts from server 1 to server 2.

Please let me know if some more info is required on this.

Regards,
Ritesh Maurya

This is currently not possible. You can get the SCM data over using distributed SCM, but it is not easy to get any other data over. You can try to use CSV export to export work items and import them in the other repository. You will likely loose attachments and the history. With respect to the project areas and other data, you will have to create that by hand or using custom automation code.

Note: You can only use distributed SCM between two servers that are at the same version.   So you would need to upgrade your Server1 server to be 5.0.2 before you could use distributed SCM to replicate information from Server1 to Server2.
