Inheriting the process configuration from the Master Project Area to the child project areas

 Hi,

We have a master project area where we have all the configurations set like the permissions, follow up actions, required attributes, roles which would be inherited by the child project areas.

Now we discovered that the child project areas have some extra configurations which is configured individually at the Child Project Area level. This is causing discrepancy between the child and the parent project area.

We need to have all the child project areas taking configuration from the Parent Project area and have no configuration at the individual level. Is there a quick process to clear all the overrides with respect to permissions, required attributes, preconditions so that all the Child Project areas look identical to the parent and we don't have to go individually into each child project area to clean them up.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Review article https://jazz.net/library/article/1077

You should be able to use the Master configuration if you set the "final" checkbox for all WorkItems.

Hi All, So I got all of the features working for my Child Project and inherit the customization from the Parent by checking the checkbox 'Final' in the Master config except the 'Permissions' section under both Project Configuration and Team Configuration. The Checkbox to check it as Final appears grayed out which is why I amn't able to check it and eventually not have the Master config Permissions being inherited to the Child Project Areas. Why??

 Hi All,

So I got all of the features working for my Child Project and inherit the customization from the Parent by checking the checkbox 'Final' in the Master config except the 'Permissions' section under both Project Configuration and Team Configuration.

The Checkbox to check it as Final appears grayed out which is why I amn't able to check it and eventually not have the Master config Permissions being inherited to the Child Project Areas.

Can someone know why would that check box be grayed out only for 'Permissions'?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I do not know why the final checkbox would be greyed out.. there are lot of places where there is a final checkbox..

which one re you speaking of?

once you check final, any local configurations will be ignored.  but extra data created may show up in the existing workitems in Eclipse  on the custom tab (scrum template).. not in Web (custom tab not presented there)

Hi Sam, Its only under the Permissions section in the Configuration that the checkbox appears to be grayed out.I am trying to check the checkbox but because its grayed out,I cant. Please see the image below. How can I change that? What can be the reason for that?

that is only enabled at each subtree part.. select 'Save Personal Dashboard' under Dashboards, and then you can mark THAT thing final.. you cannot mark the WHOLE set of permissions final in one action
