BIRT Report Security

Matthias Buettgen (23612332) | asked Aug 12 '14, 6:04 p.m.
Hi,

we have created a custom BIRT report which shows some sensative data. Therefore we would like to limit the users who are able to execute this report.

First we thought this could be done by sharing the report template with a specific team, but this doesn't work because even after applying the report template to a specific team it was still visible by all users of the Project Area.

Did we do something wrong or is another intention behind the share report template with "Project Area/Team Area"?

I verified this on RTC 4.0.5 and 4.0.6 and both versions show the same behavior.

Thanks for your help.

Regards
Matthias

4.0.5, 4.0.6, 4.0.7 and 5.0 should all be behaving the same. Adding report resources to team areas and project areas will not affect who can run and who cannot run the reports unless you setup the process roles properly. Look for the Role Operation "Display Report" and make sure it is not assigned to everyone in the team area where the report resource is shared.

Thanks Rafik for a reply.
Let me ask then one question: What is assigning TA for report resource for?

I can think of two purposes:
1) Lets you filter the report resources by Team Area in the Eclipse Team Artifacts Navigator
2) Once these reports resources are assigned to Team Areas, you can have finer grained control on their permissions like the scenario described in this forum post.

OK Rafik. I understand it now.
As you are reporting specialist, could you also answer original Matt question?

I already answered it as follows:
