Hi
I have a customer who has RTC Express for Windows. He will be running RTC clients and server on Windows, but would like to use his iSeries DB2 instalation as the database. The iSeries database is DB2 v5R3 Has anyone tried this? If so, what did you do to get it working? At the moment, when he tries to configure the link through to DB2 (on iSeries), he gets errors. thanks anthony |

Anthony,
as the RTC server is running on Windows, I guess that RTC Windows prereqs apply: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/rtc/v1r0m1/topic/com.ibm.team.install.doc/topics/c_supported_server_environments.html That is, DB2 for i is not listed. Side notes: 1 - not sure about the RTC server versions you are using, 2 - you may want to provide more details about the errors encountered 3 - I guess you verified DB2 for i could be access from the remote Windows box using the credentials as defined in RTC's teamserver.properties Eric. kesterto a crit : Hi |
Anthony, Hi Hi Eric Thanks for the reply. Yes, we realise that DB2 for i is not on the list - it was more of the case that it seems like it should work. Running RTC Express 1.0.1. I don't have the error message (I am not onsite) but I will post it, or the customer will chip in directly. regards anthony |
Anthony,
Though it "should" work from a technical standpoint, RTC doesn't support DB2i (i.e. it doesn't include the license plugin to enable DB2i as a supported provider). There is a flavor of RTC called IBM Rational Team Concert for i that does support DB2i. Unfortunately, currently RTCi only supports hosting the server on IBM i. This restriction (of running the RTCi server on IBM i) may be relaxed in the future but it's just not there yet. Please open a work item with a Filed Against "RTC for IBM i" category to vote for this requirement. Comments
