What is the realationship between RTC and Jazz

Daniel Park (111) | asked Oct 30 '08, 11:59 p.m.
I'm new to this site and product but are interested. I want to know what is the relationship between Rational Team Concert and Jazz. Are they two words for the same thing or two components that work together?

Also I have just installed RAD7.5 and see a number of options that ask to connect to a Jazz server. What are the components wanting to connect to a Jazz server?

Hello daniel,

Jazz is the technology platform and project that that Rational Team Concert
(RTC) is built apon. The Server component (Jazz Team Server) that RTC and
other clients work against provides services such as common specifications
for users, projects, teams, SCM (software versioning), work items, build,
reporting etc. which are integrated at the server level.
RTC is a product that ships with an Eclipse client and the server components
needed. RAD7.5 (i believe) contains the RTC client components which would
provide all capabilities to work with a RTC Jazz Team Server.

I believe RTC is and Jazz is really cool and gives you just the capabilities
and support everyone desperately needs to do software development. If you
are interested you could download the RTC team Server (1.0) from this site
and try it out for 60 days. In the Learn area at this site is everything
you need to get started.
