I've made a couple of reports in Report Studio and I need to display them in an RTC 4.0 dashboard. Which is the best way to do it? Is there any guide for RRDI integration with RTC?

Thx in advanced.

Hi Jorge,

Assuming that you've installed and configured RRDI to work with your instance of RTC, you can add the report by adding a Custom report widget to your dashboard, then selecting the report.

Alternately, you can create a report view of that report

Note that if you just add the regular report, the output that appears in the widget is very large.  Here are some tips for optimizing your reports to appear in the dashboard:

(Don't be put off by the string "qm" that appears in the file name.  These apply to RTC as well.)

If you upgrade to 4.0.1, you will be able to add any optimized Report Studio reports using the same "Reports" widget that you would use for BIRT reports.

Hi Jorge,

"if I refresh the page it ask me to set the widget property again"

This sounds like it might be the defect Unable to save a Custom Report viewlet on Personal Dashboard (229843), which prevented users from saving the selected report in the custom report viewlet.  It's been fixed in 4.0.1. After you select a report for the widget, does the dashboard get dirtied (i.e., does the save button enable)?

As to why the viewlet doesn't show the report when you first select it - one thing to check is whether or not your RRDI server is set up correctly.  Can you see the report if you try to view it from the reports tab instead of on the dashboard?

I kept looking for a solution for this and I figured out that the problem was when I tried to import a view of a report. So I started using the file that Report Studio creates and works fine now.

Im not sure why is that.

P.S.: I tried opening the View in the reoprts tab and didnt work.

If this is a report view, then I think I may know what the problem is.  If you import a report view into RTC (instead of a report), then when you go to view that report, RTC will display the most recent saved version of the report, instead of running it from scratch.  If your report view has no saved output in RRDI, then you'll get a blank page trying to view it in RTC.

Log in to your RTC url e.g. https://servername.domain.com:9443/ccm/web

Click on Reports -> Browse -> Report Resources.

Click on Create Resource from Custom Report

Enter the name of the report, description and identifier, select the reports to publish and save it.

Click on project Dashboard, add the Widget “Custom Report”

Click on Configure for widget and select the Report resource which was published.

It shows the RRDI report in DASHBOAD and also get reports from my reports.
