Server does not see the newly created work item type

Francois Pigeon (122) | asked Sep 05 '08, 10:24 p.m.
Hi,

My goal is to create a work items of type Scenario that can be linked to work items of type use case. And because the work item of type Scenario does not exist, I went ahead and added a new work item type called Scenario using the client application (created it, saved it, its all beautiful). But when I tried to create a new work item using this type I got the following exception:
You don't have permission to Save Work Item .

So I tried to create the work item using the web interface, only to find out that the work item type I created using the client (Scenario) is not available from the web.

So my question is: how can I create and use new work item type?

Thank you very much,

Francois

PS: The type of process I selected when I created the project Area was Open Up.

You might have to grant permission to create that new type first:
- open project area editor on Process Configuration tab
- go to Team Configuration > Permissions in left tree
- make sure Work Items > Save Work Item > Create a work item > Create a 'Scenario' work item is checked in the right tree
(Note that permissions can also be configured by iteration and team area, but in a default configuration the above should be sufficient.)
