When would one use WebSphere Application Server versus TomCat?

When and why would one use WAS instead of TomCat for CLM 2012 Applications? What are the advantages in using WAS if no server clustering is required?

Other reasons could be single Sign On and IHS as proxy to be able to scale better and avoid trouble with setting up SSL for Tomcat and its proxy.
