How can I hide Work Item Types?

We are in a constant state of change and I am being asked to have the new work item menu only display two work item types.  I know I can delete the others to remove them from the menu, but there is a chance down the road I may want to bring them back without having to go through the effort to manually rebuild them.

How can I hide the Work Item Types I don't want my users to see.

I do not have good news for you -- doesn't seem this can be done at this time. Here are some existing work items tracking related functionality that you can add your support for, though.

For anyone else who may stumble on this thread when searching for the same functionality, you can use XML comment tags (<!-- TEXT TO BE COMMENTED OUT -->) like this to hide work items from the drop down menu, whilst keeping their configurations intact
