Worklight Studio and RTC client
5 answers
Hello,
In my understanding and by my local test, the following combination is working for RTC 3.0.1.x server.
- Oracle (Sun) JDK 6.0 ( for Android SDK )
- Eclipse 3.6.2 IDE for Java EE Developer (Helios SR2)
- Worklight Studio 5.0 for Developer (p2 Install Repository: iws-update-site-wde.zip)
- Rational Team Concert 3.0.1.x Client for Eclipse (p2 Install Repository: RTC-Client-p2Repo-3.0.1.3.zip)
Rough steps:
1. download Eclipse IDE for Java EE 3.6.2 zip, extract it, launch with Oracle JDK
2. using "Help > Install New Software ...", install Worklight Studio plugin, then restart.
3. again using "Help > Install New Software ...", install RTC Client plugin (extend for an Eclipse installation), then restart.
4. Enjoy "Work Items" perspective for RTC and "Design" perspective for Worklight.
Although I have not tested yet, RTC 4.0 client/server may also work with Worklight Studio 5.0 with the same steps.

Shuhichi

Hi Gaston,
J haven't had the chance to work with Worklight yet; but according with this documentation: http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/mobile-solutions/worklight/docs/wl_5_0_dev_env_install.pdf
Worklight 5.0 supports Eclipse 3.6.2, 3.7.2, 3.8 and 4.2. The same documentation states Eclipse Classic and JEE are supported.
If you check version 4.0 requirements for Eclipse: https://jazz.net/library/article/811#Eclipse_IDE, you will see that Eclipse SDK 3.6.2.2 (bundled) and Eclipse SDK 3.7.2 are supported.
Maybe a somebody with recent experience with Worklight can clarify further but given tha the Worklight documentation differentiates between supported Eclipse 3.6.2 and 3.6.2.3 scenarios, I'd rather try to download Eclipse Indigo and install both products on top of it: Worklight documentation tells you how to install in existing Eclipse, and for RTC the following technote can be of interest ( note it's a technote for RTC 3.0.x and Eclipse 3.6 but the installation described process can help you if it's your first time installing RTC into existing Eclipse):
https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=3488&uid=swg21502374&wv=1
Hope this helps!

Jorge.
