Question on Insight 1.1 server deployment setup
Hi
We are doing Enterprise deployment of Insight 1.1 as described in the documentation. According to following server setup: DW Server Report Server ETL Server Deployment tools Server Now we have an Oracle server where the RIDW and RICM are created using the manual way to create the schemas as documented. So what I'm wondering is do we really need another server to install the rest of the DW server compontents from Installation Manager? Or does that not fill any function because we have created RIDW and RICM already? If yes then can we just put the remaining components on the same server we have the Report server? Meaning that when we use the Installation Manager to install the Report server also check the DW option but check that we will create the DB's manually. Note! We can't install anything from Installation Manager on the Oracle server. Regards Amir |

If you have installed DW server with RIDW and RICM, you don't need to install another one. But RICM is the basis of report server, you need to config RICM connection on report server with "IBM Cognos Configuration Tool". Otherwise, the report server couldn't run.
And IM installation on Oracle is no problem. So please identify the exactly issue which you met during IM installation. |

Ok, so you mean that if we have manually created RIDW & RICM we don't need to install anything else for the DW server from IM? The reason we can't use IM to install on the Oracle server is not a technical issue, it's something IT have decided and why we had to create the DB's manually. |
Correct, after manually install RIDW and RICM. You only need config RICM connection infor for CONTENT STORE by IBM Cognos Configuration tool in Report server.
