RTC with Endevor

Henna Sidhu (1161412) | asked Nov 28 '11, 11:57 a.m.
I did try looking around first, but now I need your help with this.
We have mainframe code that is Endevor. Does RTC for Z support Endevor?

RTCz should replace Endevor, instead of work with, I guess.

RDZ is designed to work with Endevor to get the mainframe developers off the mainframe.

Thanks. But can we use RTC with Endevor? I'm not able to find anything that states that RTC can be used with Endevor?

RTC provides similar functions as CCCQ and BF. Endevor provides similar function as CC and BF. So what do you want to do to integrate RTC and Endevor?

RDZ provides an opportunity to let the mainframe developer working from Windows workstation to access files in mainframe.

So what I am hearing is use RDz for mainframe file manipulation. And if there is a need for workitems , use RTC with RDz? yes?

Hi Henna

What you have described is how some are using RTC with Endevor. They continue to use Endevor for the SCM and build side of things and then use RTC as the planning, tracking, collaboration side of things. What others are planning on doing is a slow migration of SCM artifacts from Endevor over to RTC so that RTC eventually completely replaces Endevor. There is not, what I would consider, a first class bridge between Endevor and RTC. However, I have heard of one or two customers engaging with with either IBM services or other BP services to create a form of bridging where you can do things like kick off Endevor builds and promotions from RTC. I have also heard of things going the other way... where an Endevor action can trigger an update of an RTC work item.

But like I said before, support for this external SCM interaction is not out of the box.

Thank you all for getting back.
We do not plan to migrate Endevor. So the best solution would be to use RDz and maintain SCM on Endevor. And if needed use RTC for planning and collaboration.
