Difference between RTC and RTCi
6 answers
In RTC-2.0, there were three flavors: RTC, RTCz, and RTCi.
Starting with RTC-3.0, there is just RTC (RTCz and RTCi were just
variants of the original code base for RTC for the z and i platforms,
which were merged back in RTC-3.0).
If your team needs no more than 10 licenses, then you can use RTC for
free. But if you need more than that, then you would have to purchase
licenses.
See https://jazz.net/downloads/rational-team-concert/releases/3.0.1 for
details.

One thing to be aware of, if you use the free licenses, is that those licenses do not cover "traditional" IBM i development (RPG/COBOL/CL). Those require the Developer for IBM Enterprise Platforms license.

Yes, it is important to be aware of the limitations of the 10 free
licenses. See:
https://jazz.net/downloads/rational-team-concert/releases/3.0.1
for an overview of the differences between the various RTC licenses.
Note though, that these are just licensing differences.
Note that you can use the 10 free licenses for any type of file (RTC SCM
will put any type of file under source control), but you don't get the
value-add capabilities provided by the "Developer for IBM Enterprise
Platforms" licenses, such as:
- Dependency Build
- Build Promotion
- Context-Aware Searches

Thanks for the information. Where can I find pricing information on the Developer for IBM Enterprise Platforms license? We have less than 10 developers but would want to be able to change "traditional" objects such as RPG and CL programs. We currently use Turnover for our CM solution. My manager would like to look at a different package because the service contract price just went up again. I'm just wondering if this would be cheaper or more expensive.
Thanks again,
Mike

I went to the IBM page and did an instant chat with someone at IBM. The person I chatted with told me I would need a license for RDp. We already have a license for RDi SOA. The version 8.0 of RDi SOA includes RDp. The person I chatted with seemed to think we didn't need the extra license. He also suggested I call IBM support and talk to them directly. I still plan on doing that, but thought I would see if anyone knew if this is the case or not.
Thanks,
Mike
