How to obtain 'permanent' licenses?

Gary Dang (59338955) | asked Jul 01 '08, 11:41 a.m.
RTC1.0 comes with trial licenses of 60 days. How to request permanent licenses or licenses of longer period? Thanks.

Hi

RTC Express-C is available at no charge - you can download this and keep using for as long as you want. For the other versions, you can purchase licenses after the trial has expired here:

http://www-306.ibm.com/software/awdtools/rtc/index.html

You can request a quote, or following the link to a specific version and there is a "How to buy"

You can also contact your local IBM Rational team to get more info and details.

Be careful which version you apply your server license to. I applied a server license for 1.0 to RC5 and it complained then that DB2 was not a valid database vendor. It took a bit of hacking to restore.

Good point...thanks for pointing it out.

The Express-C version works with Tomcat/Derby only. The other versions allow you to use WAS and DB2/Oracle too. If you start with another version (Standard or Express) and are planning to move to Express-C you need to make sure your repository is migrated to Tomcat/Derby before you switch versions.
