Sharing Test Case and Plan template

Canberk Akduygu (99237371) | asked Jul 20 '11, 8:50 a.m.
Hi,

I have a test case and plan template in one of my project area. I like to share those templates with my other project area.

there's a Process Sharing tab in the QM admin and I choose "Allow other project areas to use this project area's process" and I point my other projects to the template project area by using "Use the process from another project area for this project area". But there's no way I can see my test case and plan templates in other project areas.

How can we achieve his problem?

Templates can be exported from one project and imported to another using RQM's REST API. See: https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/RqmApi

I've only used process sharing with RTC projects, but if it acts the
same in RQM, then the following would be true:
You need to create the child project area with "unconfigured process".
To "unconfigure" the process in an existing project area, you would edit
the Process Source to only have a process-specification node whose only
child is an empty project-configuration node.

Can someone who knows confirm whether process sharing works in RQM the
way it does in RTC?

Cheers,
Geoff

I didn't udnerstand the solution that you have used in RTC. Could you explain a little bit deeper?

Thank you

The best place to start would be the "Sharing a project area process"
topic in the RTC on-line help.

Geoff

I believe the question was sharing an artifact versus process area - process area sharing is the underlying permissions, roles, enumerations etc .. not the same as sharing a plan or test case ..

So in that respect, you cannot share it with another project as such, but you can duplicate it to make it available in another project area if you have access to that project area.

Word of caution... if you're sharing the "plan" by way of duplication into another area, it will duplicate all the associated test cases and test scripts etc into the other project too ... it DOES not maintain a synchronization so if you make changes in the original project area, they are NOT reflected in duplicate version in the other project area.
