Navigation menu disappear in RQM3.0 RC3

Hi,
The navigation menu (requirement, planning, construction, etc.) sometimes shows on the LHS as previous version of RQM; but most of times, it as drop down items (text only, no icons) on the top below the admin menu. It doesn't impact much on the usage, but I'm more used to how it used to be. i.e. icon with text on the LHS.
Is there a way to set the navigation menu stck on the LHS as before? Thanks.

In the upper right hand corner click the User Profile menu icon and click preferences. Then go to "Action Bar" and select the vertical layout option.
