Looking for help setting up RRDI and DB2
Hi,
I have RQM 3.0.1 installed on one server with DB2 and RRDI installed on another, also with DB2. RQM is configured and running. Despite the ETL tasks indicating success, I have my suspicions about that because they're completing in seconds instead of hours. But that's another problem... Not being a DBA or administrator I'm having trouble following the help for configuring RRDI. Specifically, "catalog the database and the remote instance on the client system". I'm trying to follow the instructions at "Cataloging database systems for version 9.7". No matter what combination of values I try for System Name, Host Name (that one's obvious) and Node name, I get no instances listed. If I click "Discover" I get a variety of meaningless and unhelpful error messages. How do you find out what the DB2SYSTEM DAS configuration parameter is set to? Is there something I need to do on the database host to make the DW database remotely accessible? Can I assume when I do get this worked out that with RQM 3.0.1 I'll be connecting to DW not RIDW? Thanks. Any suggestions please? |

Hello.
If RRDI and the DW run on the same machine and you can run the Data Collection that means that you already specified the correct connection string in the jts/setup's Data Warehouse set-up page. Only if the DB2 database for the DW would run on a different server than the RRDI server you would need to create an alias on the RRDI server machine to the DB2 database with your DW. For that you install the 32-bit DB2 client software on the RRDI server machine and create that alias (e.g. using Control Center). If discovery does not work then you might have perhaps a firewall issue or the admin services might not be configured correctly. It would be best to check with the DB2 tech support/forum in that case. Hope this helps, Peter. On 7/18/2011 12:53 AM, dhanslip wrote: Hi, |
Thanks Peter. It works if I turn the firewall off on the RQM/DB2 server VM. Now I need to work out how to give it access properly.
