Does RTC have the concept of a "team owner" ?

Hi all,

we are using RTC v2 with a slightly modified Scrum template. Is it possible, or have you done something like that, to implement this behavior in RTC?

We want to define several teams with a team owner.
If a defect is opened against a team and the Owned By field is left Unassigned the defect should automatically be assigned to the team owner.

This will help our remote test teams assigning defects to the development teams (because they do not know the person who should own the defect, but they know against which team this defects is to be written)

Thanks for your help!
Harold.

Hi Hal,

In version 3.0 of the RTC can set a default owner for the Owned By field, as this functionality is tied to the Owned By field and the field is common for any type of Work Item, when you set a default owner for the Owned By field, all kinds items of work will have this owner and from what I understand you want to just set the owner for the work item type of defect.

While we expect an evolution in functionality, I suggest you create a viewlet that shows the Work Items defects attributed to the owner of the team or have not been assigned to anyone else, so the owner of the team will know all the work items that need to be distributed to team.

I think the concept of Categories might help here. You can associate Categories with teams (so team A is responsible for the UI part of the project, etc). Then if you get the test team to set the defect category to UI - it will automatically appear as an unassigned work item/defect in the team's plan (and can be picked up or assigned by someone in the team - depending on how you work. This means that you can more easily cope with times when individuals are away, etc.

Thanks for your suggestions,

I have presented our users the two possibilities (waiting for RTC 3 or using Categories). Lets see what they decide for.

Thanks again!
Harold.
