Work items numeration from particular number?

Is it possible to start numeration of work items from the particular number? We have home grown change request management solution. It already has 600 change requests so we want to start numbering in RTC from 601 in order to avoid IDs intersection.

I do not know of a way to set the value of the next work item id. It would be a bit ugly, but you could import a csv file of 600 dummy work items to use up 1 through 600 and then resolve them all. You could even create a new work item type that you only use for this purpose and then discard.
