Rollup TimeSpent into Parent Work item

Rahul Gokhale (11) | asked Aug 10 '10, 7:33 a.m.
We typically work in an environment where a defect is decomposed into a number of child tasks. In order to get a truly accurate figure of the time spent against the defect, I would have to sum up the time spent in all the individual child tasks. Is there a way to roll-up the time spent for all child work items into the parent while writing a query?

Sorry for the late reply. You would need to create a follow up action / participant similar to the one described in the RTC Extensions workshop in the Library.

 Hi Rahul

If you are using the work item editor then you can add the progress bar. Its a non attribute based editor presentations and is called "Work Progress". Check it out if it helps.
Also you can check out if the plan editor can help you achieve this as well.
https://jazz.net/library/article/593 is the article that explains the basics of the planning.

Thanks
