Using the IBM Installation Manager Update manager

St Clair Clarke (662618) | asked Jan 28 '08, 11:53 p.m.
Hello,
Congrats on a novel use of Eclipse.

First, can the IBM installation manager be used to update any site, or is it restricted to the Jazz site only?

I asked because I attempted to update the following URL - http://dist.codehaus.org/groovy/distributions/updateDev/ - by running the installation manger > File > Preference > Add Repository and placed the URL there. However, it will not connect.

I tried several other working update sites with the same result.

I then boot the Team Concert and use the Ecipse Update Manager and I connectd to all the above sites without any problem.

Let me know if I am using the software correctly please.

The IBM Installation Manager can be used to install or update any
product that was designed to be installed with the Installation Manager.
A number of IBM products already use the Installation Manager, and more
are switching to it over time.

The Installation Manager has its own repository format and does not
understand sites intended for the Eclipse Update Manager. So
unfortunately you can't point it to just any update site.

However, once Team Concert is installed and running, you can use those update sites as normal eclipse update sites.
