Drag and drop between columns in quick planner not working

joe nguyen (13113) | asked Oct 30, 9:25 a.m.

Hello all,

I have built a quick planner board with multiple columns filtered by the workflow state. All "Lane Content" is open, meaning any iteration, any owners, no tags, and all state groups. Under "States" I just simply have the state that the work items are in. I was under the impression that we are able to drag and drop the work item into another column that was configured for a different state and have that work item take on the new state. Just like a regular Kanban board. You can change the "Workflow State" or "Status" in the work item itself and it will move to the appropriate state column, but I would like to be able to drag and drop. Thank you in advance for your help!!

I think in the classic plans, you are able to configure a Kanban view and that supports drag and drop between states.
In general, it is important to note, that state changes are only possible using a workflow action. You can not change between arbitrary states, if there is no workflow action. Doing it, would avoid preconditions and follow up actions, so it would break the process. It seems not to be supported in plan boards, as far as I can tell.

Hi Ralph,

Thank you for the response. I do have workflow actions configured to allow movement between all states that were created.
