Does DOORs Next Gen support Mandatory Attributes? How can I create them?
I am working on a Jira to DOORs Requirements Project. I am creating Epic artifacts for DOORs. Jira supports mandatory fields in Epics. I want to sync Jira project to DOORs requirements.
These fields are mandatory in Jira:
Epic Name
Release Type
Planned Start Date
Planned End Date
Software Delivery Date
Vendor/Group
I will be creating a DOORs Next Gen requirements project that will have the same (fields) attributes and I want to make them mandatory. Is this possible? If so, how do I create them? Best regards.
Accepted answer
Currently, DOORS Next does not support mandatory attributes.
While there is a discussion on the pros and cons for mandatory attributes vs default values, there is an enhancement for mandatory attributes.
Quoted from the enhancement:
Mandatory attributes was a request for the original RRC product many years ago but this was deemed unacceptable to most users. To always have an attribute as mandatory would be very frustrating. You will see from the parent Plan Item that this is now hooked up to mandatory attributes based on the overall state of a requirement in its workflow.
I'm sorry to say that the bottom line is that this has not made a release yet but it is prioritised pretty high in our backlog and marked for a candidate release of next year.

I personally would not be creating epics in an ELM RM Project area, I'd be creating them in an ELM CCM Project area.
The CCM application is the direct analogy of Jira in the ELM world, and all these can be made mandatory fields on work items in a CCM project area.
An epic is a project management concept, not a requirement concept. You would typically link requirements to an epic and then to the user stories in that epic, you wouldn't create the epic as a requirement
