Comparision of word files
Hello,
I faced a problem with the comparison of different versions of ms word document version saved in the RTC repository.
Normally RTC should access the Word API to do a document comparison by using the build-in feature of MS Word (Tools -> Compare and Merge Documents...). But this feature causes very often a problem because RTC somehow starts another windows processes of winword which lock a file. In this case I receive a error message something with that the Normal.dot document cannot be opened.
A workaround would be to kill all the winword related processes in the system and restart the comparison in RTC. But when I do so I get another error message in RTC "The request to the Word application to perform the comparison between 'C:\DOCUME~1\username\LOCALS~1\Temp\compare23442.doc' and 'WORKSPACE PATH\document name.doc' failed. Comparing the files manually may succeed."
This problem constantly appears on my and a colleagues pc using windows XP, MS Word 2003 SP3 and RTC 2.0.
Is anybody able to reproduce the same problem?
Regards,
Alexander
