CLM 4.0.2 Server doesn't start after installing/setting up DM 4.0.2

Monika Gupta (15279) | asked May 24 '13, 12:42 a.m.

I have installed CLM 4.0.2 and also configured DM 4.0.2.

Everything runs fine initially and when I restart the server, it is not coming up. after showing message deploying dm.war, it throws this error and hangs .

I tried reinstalling, still the problem remains.

Please help.

Hi Monika

Even I have encountered a similar issue after restarting the CLM server which also has DM 4.0.1 deployed on the same instance of Tomcat. This is what I have done, which eventually resolved this issue:

1. Stop the CLM server
2. Cleared the temporary files inside the “temp” folder of tomcat
2. Deleted the folders in the folder \work\Catalina\localhost inside tomcat.
4. Restarted the CLM serer.

Hi Monika,
I found, that someone else had this issue too: https://jazz.net/forum/questions/107768/clm-401-tomcatderbystartupframeworkmanager-an-error-event-has-occurred-involving-the-bundle-comibmcclsoadeployportletui_10200v20120119_1919-1940.
It seems to be existing issue: https://jazz.net/jazz04/web/projects/Design%20Management#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=27479
Please contact the support requesting APAR.

JAZZ DEVELOPER

Failed to start the bundle "com.ibm.ccl.soa.deploy.portlet.ui" (27479) suggests that the error

FrameworkManager: An error event has occurred
involving the bundle "com.ibm.ccl.soa.deploy.portlet.ui_1.0.200.v20120119_1919 [
709]".

is harmless.

However, the other errors are concerning. I agree that @monikagupta78 should contact support and open an APAR.

Hi,

I would recommend you to contact your support team to help you see what is going on.
From what I have seen, the error [ERROR] 2013-05-22 17:56:52.562 - FrameworkManager: An error event has occurred involving the bundle "com.ibm.ccl.soa.deploy.portlet.ui_1.0.200.v20120119_1919 [ 709]" described in WI 27479 is supposed to be harmless (see WI 36896).
The root cause of the issue may be somewhere else.

The following stack trace seems to be more interesting:
[ERROR] 2013-05-22 17:56:55.822 - FrameworkManager: An error event has occurred
involving the bundle "org.eclipse.jdt.ui_3.6.50.r362j7_v20111020 [888]".

You said everything was running fine prior to restarting the server, what did you last do before the restart?
Did you use the DM Import Engine for example?
If so it could be linked to WI 36834 although it is supposed to be fixed..
Investigating what information is in the JTS/DM, catalina... logs in C:\Program Files\IBM\JazzTeamServer\server\logs and C:\Program Files\IBM\JazzTeamServer\server\tomcat\logs would be best.

Earlier I had CLM 4.0.1 and DM 4.0.1. I just uninstalled that and installed 4.0.2 and DM 4.0.2. After completing the custome setup for dm, i could create life cycle project, could configure import engine.

But next day, as a routine I restarted my machine and while tried starting Team server, got this error and server is not coming up only.

Francois-xavier Panaget commented May 24 '13, 6:17 a.m.

Hi Monika,

I would try to delete the catalina work folder information to as mentioned by Abish Zachariah. This is something definitely to try. If it still fails afterward then it might mean the problem is burred deeper in the configuration.

I again received the same error after restarting my CLM 4.0.1 instance with DM 4.0.1.I carried out the same steps that I have mentioned above and it again resolved this issue. This time I cleared all the files in the “temp” folder. Then I deleted only the “dm” and “vvc” folders in the “\tomcat\work\Catalina\localhost” folder.
