Who needs JazzAdmin?

Erik anderson (38315029) | asked Jul 30 '09, 12:44 p.m.
Our IT group creates all projects and administers users (adding to LDAP group and assigning licenses).

Our initial thought is to restrict members of the JazzAdmin role the IT group, but some users are saying "jazzadmin is also needed for some settings in the reports as well as for import from external systems".

Is there some place I can look to see what operations require JazzAdmin?

Hi there,

I need JazzAdmin role because I have completed a formal IBM course that setups users with different profiles. The Test Manager was given JazzAdmin Role so I am trying to have the same setup so I can review my training materials. Thanks

The only reports-related operation that requires admin privileges is to
manually trigger the data warehouse snapshots using the "Data Warehouse
Administration" link. The user also requires the JazzDWAdmin privilege.
Some snapshots (such as the SCM snapshot) must be run as Admin in order
to properly collect the data, so the triggering user must have the
jazzadmin role in order to do this. The automated running of the
snapshots is unaffected - it always runs as admin.

In the Jazz Process realm, JazzAdmins role is also required to create project areas, and to create/import/deploy/modify process templates.

This situation is likely to be improved in a future release. See https://jazz.net/jazz/resource/itemName/com.ibm.team.workitem.WorkItem/87811

I think another use of JazzAdmin is the capability of editing another
user's User information: absences, percentage of time on each team, etc.

This is unfortunate, because at least in our environment, we'd like
Product Owners to be able to set these User settings for their
developers. Instead, either each user has to do it, or a request has to
be sent to the administrator to do it. In V1, this also requires users
install the Eclipse client. In V2 this can be done on the web client.
