Can't provide user/password when setting up news feed widget

John Owen (462422) | asked Dec 09 '10, 9:08 a.m.
In RTC V2 when you set up a news feed you could also specify a User and Password in addition to the URL. In RTC V3 this option is no longer there. What's the correct way to specify a user and password with a news feed in RTC V3?

It seems to me that if I put the user and password details in the URL itself then they will be visible to everyone.

You can still do that, however we are currently looking at a defect in
this area (Passwords for Feeds not "sticking" (131055)
<https>)
that would result in RTC asking for username and password for password
protected feeds after each restart.

Note that RTC related feeds are not impacted because they take the
username and password from the repository connection
directly.
