Can artifacts in DNG have custom formats?

Greetings,

I'm using RDNG 5.0.2, have all administrative privileges and was trying to create a custom artifact format.  I realize I can always create custom artifact types and attributes, but I was curious as to whether custom artifact formats can be created.  Will this be supported in a future release?

 What would you use this for?  A format essentially corresponds to the editor that it used to edit the artifact, so DNG obviously only knows about it's own editors.
