Service levels of IBM JRE required for RTC 2.0

As of about 2.0 RC1 we have required specific levels of the IBM JRE to operate correctly because we are dependent on a number of fixes. If you are using an IBM JRE you must ensure that you have the correct version. If you are using a non-IBM JRE then this notice will not apply to you.
The correct version of the IBM JRE fixes the following problems:
65639: jazzdev crash
77079: Problem with build C20090402-0634 -- "Too many open files" accessing URL
78604: checksum errors during import
If you attempt to run Team Concert without the correct JRE, some services in the Jazz Team Sever may fail to start.
The required JREs with these fixes have been made available as i-fixes on Java 5 SR9 and Java 6 SR4. The Team Concert downloads include the correct Java 5 JREs. The Java 6 JREs will be made available separately at a later date.
If you are running WebSphere Application Server you will need to obtain the corresponding WAS i-fixes which are made available under their corresponding WAS APARs. For Java 5/WAS 6.1 the APAR is PK85942 and the files can be downloaded from ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/websphere/appserv/support/fixes/PK85942/. You should install at least WAS 6.1 fixpack 19 before installing the JRE i-fix. For Java 6/WAS 7.0 the APAR is PK 86771 and the files can be downloaded from ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/websphere/appserv/support/fixes/PK86771/.

Adrian,
Does requiring "specific levels of the IBM JRE" mean that *if* you're
using the IBM JRE you must have at least the specified levels, or that
you *must* use the specified version of the IBM JRE? In other words what
does this have to do with other JRE's, specifically Sun?
I have a particular problem: I've been running the 1.x server on
Solaris, and since IBM doesn't build its JRE for Solaris I've had no
choice but to use the Sun JRE on Sun platforms. Which has worked fine,
by the way. If RTC 2.0 will not run on Solaris at all due to the above,
however, I need to start working on an alternate plan right away.
But I'm hoping all you meant to say was that IBM JREs below a certain
release level are unsupported.
Thanks,
MK

We strongly recommend that you install at least WAS 6.1 fixpack 19
before installing the JRE i-fix. For Java 6/WAS 7.0 the APAR is PK
86771 and the files will be available from
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/websphere/appserv/support/fixes/PK86771/
after approximately June 3, 2009.
This information has been added to the release notes for the Beta 2
download.

I do not see Solaris as an IBM *formally* supported platform
1.0 -> http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=3488&context=SSCP65&dc=DB540&uid=swg21306241&loc=en_US&cs=UTF-8&lang=en&rss=ct3488rational
2.0->https://jazz.net/downloads/rational-team-concert/milestones/2.0RC2?p=allDownloads
It should work though, but I would not recommend putting it in production.. Adrian ?
